Die Casting

Our Die Casting machines at SIMALEX are without a doubt, some of the best machines available. Our machines are built by Toshiba and are fitted with all options available, including automatic ladles, shot monitors, automatic die height adjusters and some even have Toshiba's SEMU (Shot End Master Unit). This allows for the machines computer to monitor and adjust all functions of the machine. Recently SIMALEX has incorporated automatic sprayers, extractors and die lube mixers from Rimrock into its production system to allow our machines to run completely automatic.

SIMALEX also utilizes solid-state-controlled reverbatory furnaces built by Pyro Industrial Systems to maintain a constant metal temperature and provide us with enough melting capacity to keep up with our fully automatic die casting cells.

Key Benefits

The SEMU's (Shot End Master Unit) many advantages include:

  • The degree of opening for the various valves and limit switch positions can be displayed and adjusted on the SEMU screen.
  • Once a setting is established, the parameters can be stored in memory and be recalled the next time the job is run.
  • A digital display of speeds and pressures of the most recent shot is displayed and constantly updated as the machine operates.
  • A feedback system corrects the injection speed, intensification rise time and high speed start position when required.
  • Injection speeds can be input directly.

Fully automatic operation removes almost all human error, allowing the die casting machine to consistently produce a quality casting.

Operating our machines with automatic equipment allows us to maintain cycle times within 1 second every shot. As a result, die temperatures can be maintained closer giving our customers longer die life and a consistently better casting.

Capabilities

SIMALEX is capable of producing castings with a projected surface area of up to 300 square inches. Our machines range in size from 300 ton Hot Chamber (Zinc) to 720 ton Cold Chamber (Aluminum and Magnesium).

  • We can die cast Zinc with either a Hot Chamber (300 ton) or Cold Chamber (400 ton) machines. The alloys we use are No. 3 Zinc and ZA-12.
  • When die casting Magnesium, we use 400 ton Cold Chamber machines. The alloy we cast with is AZ91D.
  • Our Aluminum casting machines range in size from 400 to 720 tons. The alloys that we use are ADC-12(383 AL), 360 AL and 343 AL.
